M ARCY RECEI VES ENDORSEM ENT OF GEORGI A CONGRESSM AN JOHN LI NDER
John Linder, Republican congressman from the 7th District in Georgia, has endorsed Bill Marcy,
Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District in Mississippi. Marcy is running against Bennie
Thompson, the incumbent who has held the seat for 17 years.
Linder is the primary sponsor of FairTax (H.R. 25), legislation that Marcy strongly supports.
FairTax would repeal all corporate and individual income taxes, payroll taxes, self-employment taxes,
capital gains taxes, estate taxes, and gift taxes – and replace them with a revenue-neutral
personal consumption tax.
“ Bill is a fiscal conservative and understands the importance of the FairTax, one of the most
exciting proposals to ever reach the American people,” said Linder. “ We cannot continue to ignore the
problems that our nation faces precisely because of our current tax system,” he said.
“ Bill is a former policeman and retired businessman who has shown himself to be the kind of
conservative that Mississippi’ s 2nd district needs to pull itself up from the bottom of the heap. He is pro-
life, and opposes Obama’ s healthcare. He also wants to protect our borders and stop the flow of illegals
who are draining the nation’ s resources and creating an environment of utter disregard for America’ s
immigration laws,” he said.
“ I am honored by Congressman Linder’ s endorsement,” said Marcy. “ I hope to work closely with
him to bring about this needed change in our tax system,” he said.
Linder also serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the Subcommittee on Oversight,
the Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures, and is a ranking member on the Subcommittee on
Income Security and Family Support.
