Clarion-Ledger – Alan Nunnelee is debating Travis Childers

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 4, 2010

1st District candidates to debate

After months of sparring with mailers and competing TV ads, 1st District congressional candidates Alan Nunnelee and Rep. Travis Childers will participate in a debate at Ole Miss on Oct. 12.

The two formally face each other for what is expected to be the first and last time 21 days before the Nov. 2 election.

“We’ve been on schedule for this debate for a long time,” Childers said. “I hope personally that people will see the difference in the two candidates.”

State Sen. Nunnelee said he expects the panel of journalists to ask the same questions he’s been hearing from voters on the campaign trail.

“I think it’s always good for candidates and elected officials to meet with the people who vote for them and not hide behind a 1-800 telephone number,” he said.
