Mississippi State likes 2-QB system enough to stick with it against Auburn

“I plan on us playing both quarterbacks and they’re doing a nice job. When you’re on the sidelines with the headphones on and you hear the play called, you might see some of the things that you don’t always see while you’re standing out there with a 300-pound guy coming at you trying to hit you.”

Relf wasn’t bad either. More of a runner, the former Carver-Montgomery quarterback hit on 7 of 9 passes for 116 yards, including a 55-yard strike to Leon Berry. He also ran seven times for 20 yards.

“Really, he was 9 for 9,” said offensive coordinator Les Koenning. “He hit the (Memphis) linebacker right in the chest on his first pass. I said, ‘Chris, it was a perfect spiral.’ And on the other one, (Chad) Bumphis dropped it.”
