Nutt surprised by coaches decision

“Bobby Johnson is an excellent football coach,” said Houston Nutt, in Jackson for the Mississippi Association of Coaches meeting. “He and his coaches always had an excellent game plan. His teams always played hard and were very sound on both sides of the ball.”

Nutt split two games with Johnson when Nutt coached at Arkansas. Ole Miss and Vandy have split games in Nutt’s two seasons in Oxford.

Johnson’s Vandy teams always seemed to be at their best against Ole Miss. Even in Eli Manning’s senior season, the David Cutcliffe-coached Rebels needed a late field goal and a missed chip shot by Vandy to win by 3.
