Conference expansion could be real doozy
With that in mind, two scenarios seem to emerge:
The Big 12 keeps itself relevant by scraping up TCU or Houston, then dropping super-duper sweetheart deals into the laps of Texas and Texas A&M. Then the SEC goes after Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech or Clemson (or, if it’s feeling frisky, all four).
In the other scenario, Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma leave a smoking hole where the Big 12 used to be, bailing out for the powerhouse prestige of the SEC.
Under either scenario, one thing is certain: All across the SEC, football coaches will scramble for industrial-size bottles of heartburn medication.
