“He didn’t have it torn in high school, or he didn’t know about it,” Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said. “The MRI showed that, and this was the first they found out about that.”

Nutt said he, Ole Miss’ medical staff and the Cotton family will try to reach a final decision in the next couple of weeks, adding that the best-case scenario if one in which the rehabilitation works and Cotton can play with relatively little pain. However, the key in the decision, Nutt said, will be what’s best for Cotton, both in the short term and the long term.
