Brett Favre’s silence could spark trade talk
Pssst: With the National Football League’s trading period to begin in fewer than three weeks, the Minnesota Vikings still have had no indication from quarterback Brett Favre whether he’ll return next season.
If Favre’s status remains unclear, it would seem the Vikings might have to begin talking about ways to trade with Philadelphia for QB Donovan McNabb, who would seem, at this juncture, their best possible replacement.
The Vikings’ first-round pick in April’s NFL draft is No. 30. But the caliber and depth of this year’s draft is the best it’s been in about a decade, primarily because of nearly 60 underclassmen coming out due to an anticipated rookie salary scale cutback in the NFL’s next labor deal.
