USC finally appears mortal under coach Pete Carroll

Since Pete Carroll arrived at USC nine years ago, I always thought the Trojans were the one sports team in La-La Land that didn’t have a Malibu mentality. You know, when the going gets tough, the alleged tough go to the beach.
Well, something tells me this year’s Trojans should stand on the sideline holding surfboards. It appears they’ve absolutely quit.
In two of the last three weeks, USC has given up the most points in the Carroll Era, first in a 47-20 loss at Oregon and then the most in 121 years of USC football with Saturday’s disturbing 55-21 drubbing by Stanford.
