Collins, DeLano face off Tuesday in election for state representative seat

Patrick Collins and Scott DeLano face each other Tuesday in a special election to fill former state Rep. Michael Janus’ seat in the Mississippi House of Representatives.
DeLano, 38, of Biloxi, is a real estate developer from a well-known family in the real estate business and serves as co-chair of the Gulf Coast Business Council’s land use committee. He said he’s going to 4,200 households to introduce himself and has lost about 12 pounds in the process.
“I hear a lot of retirees interested in the cost of insurance and hear their frustration with what’s going on in Washington,” DeLano said. “They’re glad to know that I’m a small business owner that knows what it means to sign the front side of a check and know the challenges in running a small business and what everybody else is out there facing as well.”
