USC’s Barkley, Notre Dame’s Clausen trading messages
USC quarterback Matt Barkley and Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen face each other Saturday, but the pair started talking to each other Wednesday, which could be unusual for a game featuring two Top 25 teams.
Clausen sent Barkley text messages telling him how cold and rainy the weather would be Saturday in South Bend, Ind. Barkley, being his usual unfazed self, responded without trading barbs.
“We missed each other during the day, but I texted him and said, `What’s up?”‘ Barkley said. “I’m going to text him again and see how he’s doing.”
