Southern Mississippi defense faces new challenge at Kansas
HATTIESBURG — It didn’t take long in Saturday’s game against Virginia for Southern Miss defensive coordinator Todd Bradford to realize that his week’s worth of preparation had to be scrapped.
The Cavaliers didn’t line up in the spread formations they had used during the first two weeks of the season and the Golden Eagles were at a distinct disadvantage.
“We knew when the quarterback went under center (on the second play) that we would have to make some changes,” said Bradford. “They had different personnel groups out there that we hadn’t even seen on film and we had to take out the clipboards and start charting plays.
