Childers goes on a helicopter ride
U.S. Rep. Travis Childers, D-Miss., surveyed DeSoto County’s wastewater treatment facilities by air Monday, touring the new western wastewater treatment plant site under construction near Walls before heading to the $16 million Short Fork Wastewater Treatment Plant east of Hernando.
Back in the First Congressional District after the August recess, Childers pledged support for the eventual completion of the county’s $100 million wastewater system.
“I think the DeSoto County Regional Utility Authority has done the best job of handling the infrastructure needed for this system,” Childers said after disembarking from a DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department helicopter. “I made a commitment early on and I’m committed to this project. It’s the perfect example of how local government can work with the federal government.”
