An NCAA compliance coordinator’s work is never done

STARKVILLE — In the fall of 2001, Bracky Brett had just completed his 24th season as a high school football coach – and in this case, also assistant principal and athletic director at tiny Hamilton in Monroe County.
Somewhere, he saw an ad. Mississippi State, his alma mater, needed an NCAA compliance coordinator. As a coach who had dealt with recruiting rules before, he figured he’d give it a shot and answer the ad.
He got the job.
Six months later, State learned it was being investigated by the NCAA for alleged major violations within its football program.
