QUINN – Olive Branch man heads to prison for Bush threats
A 20-year-old from Olive Branch was sentenced today to 18 months in the federal medical prison in Lexington, Ky., for sending threatening MySpace messages about President George W. Bush and other members of the government.
During sentencing, Neal A. Thomas’ attorney, Kevin Payne, argued for Thomas to receive a lighter sentence because of his prior medical issues.
However, U.S. District Judge Sharon Aycock ruled because the crime dealt with a “serious, serious” offense, she could not reduce his prison time.
Before being sentenced Thomas made a brief statement to the court, saying he regretted his actions.
