Ward 4 candidates push selves at forum
Five of the seven Democratic candidates vying for the Ward 4 Jackson City Council post got a final shot at convincing undecided voters Thursday in the last of a series of forums.
“A change in leadership needs to happen,” said candidate Jacqueline Amos-Norris. “I am that change.”
Along with Amos-Norris, incumbent Councilman Frank Bluntson is fighting for a chance at re-election against the man he beat in 2005, former Councilman Bo Brown. Brown stressed his experience and readiness to “hit the ground running” if sent back to City Hall.
“I’m asking for a second chance,” he said. “I’m asking for redemption.”
Brown ticked off a litany of priorities he said he would tackle for the ward, including better roads, upgraded housing development, youth activities and transforming Hawkins Field into a regional airport, first for cargo and later for passengers.
