Brenda Scott says she has fresh vision for city
Democratic mayoral candidate Brenda Scott was waiting Tuesday evening outside the city clerk’s office when her campaign manager asked why the clerks were behind a bank-style glass partition.
“Wouldn’t you have a window if you worked with all of these crooks?” Scott shot back.
That is Scott all over – a rabble-rouser, labor organizer and proud political outsider now looking to get inside.
Scott is best known as president of the Mississippi Alliance of State Employees, a union that organizes state and municipal employees. As president, Scott helped Jackson city workers get a collective bargaining agreement passed by the City Council in 2008.
