With Gene Chizik driving the bus, are the good times back on the Plains? Or will Auburn fans continue singing the blues?
Right now, nobody has a clue.
In his first few months on the job, Chizik has done little to mute the critics who piercingly screamed that his hiring at Auburn — with a 5-19 mark as a head coach — ranked among the worst hires in modern SEC history. In fairness, other than standing on his head or riding a bucking bronco into Jordan-Hare on Saturday for A-Day, there probably hasn’t been a lot he could have done to stem the tide. Chizik has taken the heat in stride, but it was recently made worse by his boss and chief enabler, athletics director Jay Jacobs.
