Distractions nothing new for Tournament teams
GLENDALE, Ariz. — The news of potential recruiting violations couldn’t have broken at a worse time for Connecticut, a day before a Sweet 16 game against Purdue.
The news itself, though, could have been much, much worse. The alleged violations involved a player who never actually suited up in a game for the Huskies, which means there are no potential ineligible player issues and there’s no way — barring further revelations — that the accomplishments of the 2008-09 team in any danger of being erased.
