Mayor Frank Melton called city leaders to City Hall for a press conference this morning — his first full day back on the job since his federal trial began more than three weeks ago.
Melton stepped up to the podium in the city council chambers and gave a brief statement about economic development and the financial health of the city.
“We have a lot of things going on in the inner city and the downtown area,” he said.
Melton said New York investors are interested in purchasing a strip mall off Terry Road in South Jackson and that he expects to make an announcement soon about two new hotels in downtown.
