Leach returns to rebuild most of the Red Raider offense

So the sun set in Lubbock last Friday on a new contract between Texas Tech and the captain of their football pirate ship, Mike Leach. The focus of Red Raider faithful now settles onto analysis of what players return to the team after a 2008 model which matched the school record for wins in a season (11).

Forensic study of last year’s team reveals that its “overachievement” was no accident given the pure veteran and uninjured nature of its offensive lineup. Continuity kept Leach and his staff from losing valuable game-prep ground to new starters last year. Players started every game, or missed only one start, at no fewer than nine offensive positions in 2008.
Of course, the downside of experience one season is its tendency to evaporate through graduation the next season.

For this very reason, Texas Tech’s offensive outlook for 2009 is a bit unsettling.
