Tech ‘will not even respond’ to Leach counter
Texas Tech “will not even respond” to a counteroffer from agents for football coach Mike Leach sent earlier this week as both sides remain far apart on how much the university and coach would have to pay if either terminates employment.
The university has given Leach a Tuesday deadline to sign its extension offer. If Leach does not sign the offer, he will remain under his current contract, which has two years left.
Leach is on a trip to Europe, but expected back in Lubbock Monday, according to Tech officials.
The Avalanche-Journal obtained the counteroffer and other documents through a public records request.
The counteroffer, dated Tuesday from Matt Baldwin of IMG Coaches in Minnesota, said Leach and his agents:
