Kiffin asks for beating by Florida

When Lane Kiffin grows up, he’s probably going to be more than a little embarrassed by the events surrounding his first National Signing Day as head coach at Tennessee. At least he should be.
With one ill-advised and immature statement, the 33-year-old Kiffin proved that he doesn’t know the written rules of the NCAA or the unwritten rules among college coaches. The first mistake earned him a swift reprimand from SEC commissioner Mike Slive. The second will likely lead to a severe beatdown when his team visits The Swamp on Sept. 19.

If you missed it, here’s what happened. Kiffin stood up in front of about 1,000 Vols fans at the Knoxville Convention Center Thursday and accused Florida coach Urban Meyer of recruiting violations concerning Pahokee, Fla., wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson.
