The state boards of Health and Education are working together to tackle obesity among Mississippi children.
At a recent meeting of the two boards, state Superintendent of Education Hank Bounds suggested representatives from both form a subcommittee to discuss ways to address obesity in schools.
“We have a great opportunity to change lives,” said Dr. Luke Lampton, chairman of the state Board of Health.
The logic, members said, is if children are encouraged to make healthier choices, adults will, too.
