Pickering joins Jackson-based firm

By: Magnolia Tribune - January 19, 2009

The Clarion-Ledger, 1/16/9

Former U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering has joined Jackson-based public affairs and government relations firm Capitol Resources LLC.

Pickering has nearly 20 years of political and public policy experience, beginning with his role in the first Bush administration of helping develop trade and assistance programs for Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Republics. A Republican, Pickering then joined then U.S. Sen. Trent Lott’s staff dealing with energy, transportation, trade and telecommunications legislation. He was the state’s 3rd District congressman the past 12 years and deciding not to seek re-election.

“Chip Pickering’s depth of knowledge, experience in Washington and understanding of the various issues important to Mississippi will be invaluable to our team on the federal level,” John Lundy of Capitol Resources LLC said in a news release. “With Chip being a former member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and having served as vice chairman of the committee, he brings knowledge and leadership to issues vital in both Mississippi and nationally — health care, energy, environment, and telecommunications.”
