Government asks for delay in Langston’s imprisonment
A delay in Joey Langston’s report to federal prison was requested this afternoon by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The former Booneville attorney pleaded guilty one year ago today to conspiring to bribe Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter for help with a lawsuit against Richard “Dickie” Scruggs.
Langston was set to report to prison next week.
Observers say the government may want Langston to be more available as the DeLaughter case seems to be bubbling to the surface.
Earlier this week, DeLaughter’s former boss, ex-Hinds District Attorney Ed Peters, surrendered his law license.
And in a court document Tuesday, the government revealed for the first time publicly that Peters was a conspirator in the DeLaughter bribery scheme.
