Earlier this year, it was just a big hole in the ground across from the Medgar Wiley Evers Postal Facility on South Street in downtown Jackson.
Today, the approximately $127 million federal courthouse building is taking shape on the skyline.
“We’re on schedule,” said Kenny Bush, a spokesman for W.G. Yates and Sons Construction Co., the contractor on the project.
The federal courthouse is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in August 2010.
Bordered by Court, President, South and West streets, the building will include 12 courtrooms, 12 judges’ chambers and three Court of Appeals’ chambers.
