US Attorney Jim Greenlee Selected as Keynote Speaker
New York, NY, December 24, 2008 –(PR.com)– The Council on Litigation Management (CLM) has announced that Jim Greenlee, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, will be the keynote speaker for the 2009 annual CLM conference.
Mr. Greenlee’s office secured the indictment of nationally-known plaintiffs’ lawyer Richard “Dickie” Scruggs for attempting to bribe a Mississippi state court judge. The bribery attempt was in connection with a dispute between Scruggs and another lawyer over legal fees associated with their work in Hurricane Katrina litigation. Scruggs pleaded guilty and, on June 26, 2008, was sentenced to five years in prison by a federal court. Among other things, Scruggs had built his notoriety as a leading lawyer in tobacco litigation which resulted in billions of dollars in settlements and attorneys fees around the country.
Mr. Greenlee will deliver the keynote address at the CLM conference which will be held March 11 – 13 in Phoenix, Arizona. For information about the conference, please visit www.litmgmt.org/AnnualConference.
