All eight Southeastern Conference teams that were bowl-eligible accepted bids to play in the postseason games.
All but two will play their last game of the season in 2009.

Vanderbilt will kick off the SEC’s bowl lineup against Boston College on Dec. 31 in the Music City Bowl, its first bowl since 1982. The game will be played at LP Field, home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans and located just four miles from the Commodores’ home field.

“I’m excited, our staff is excited and our players are excited about getting a chance to experience a bowl game,” Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson said. “I think it will also mean a great deal to our fans. After supporting the Commodores as they have for so many years, I’m extremely happy for them.”

LSU will play Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta in the SEC’s last game of 2008.

After back-to-back BCS bowls, including last year’s national championship, the Tigers finished the regular season 7-5.

In addition to Florida’s matchup against Oklahoma in the FedEx BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 8 in Miami, the most highly anticipated game may be the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 2, pitting Ole Miss and Texas Tech.
