Missouri coach Gary Pinkel set on contract extension (Saban?)

COLUMBIA, MO. — Without discussing details, Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel acknowledged on Monday a verbal agreement to a contract extension pending approval by the school’s Board of Curators.
The multi-year extension is expected to give him a salary of about $2.5 million, about $600,000 above the increase Pinkel received less than a year ago. The board meets today.

While many assumed Pinkel would stay in Columbia and dismissed the possibility he would consider leaving MU after this season, his eighth here, MU quarterback Chase Daniel apparently was concerned about one job prospect — Washington. Pinkel had been an assistant there for 12 years and is intensely loyal to mentor and former employer Don James, who would love to have Pinkel return.
