Staff issue kept ‘hush-hush’

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 18, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 11/15/8

Jackson City Council President Leslie Burl McLemore said what happened this week to a deputy city attorney assigned to the police department has been kept “hush-hush” by city officials.

Katherine Pugh, who had been assigned to handle legal issues for JPD, either quit or was fired. Her departure might be related to the federal criminal case against Mayor Frank Melton.

JPD Chief Malcolm McMillin supposedly was visibly upset about Pugh’s departure and was seen packing up his office.

Reached Friday evening, McMillin would not comment on Pugh or confirm that he was packing his office. However, he said he is still chief. “I’m on vacation. I’ll be back at work on Monday morning,” he said.
