The Florida Gators seem to get better every week, which is bad news for the rest of the SEC.

No. 3 Florida leads the SEC in scoring at 42.8 per game, but the numbers are even scarier since the Gators’ 31-30 loss to Ole Miss on Sept. 27. After following the loss with a 38-7 win over Arkansas, the Gators have averaged 51.3 points in their past four games.

What’s been the difference? Florida coach Urban Meyer said all of the team’s weapons are in play now.

“Our running backs emerged,” Meyer said. “I always believe in playing players a little later. To put an athlete out there who’s not ready and you lose your confidence, I think that usually sets them back a year. Jeff Demps or Chris Rainey or (Emmanuel) Moody, those kids, I just didn’t feel they had the look in their eye. We kind of were hanging around, hanging around and then we said, ‘Let them go eat.’ And they did.

“And our offensive line’s consistency right now is like it’s never been since our staff has been at Florida. The offensive line and the running backs, in my opinion, are the reason we’re having some success.”
