UT stands for Utter Travesty

KNOXVILLE — In time, we will discover what Tennessee football is like without Phillip Fulmer.

But based on the events of Saturday afternoon, we know what Tennessee football with Fulmer has become — a joke.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, the Vols sunk to new depths in a 13-7 loss to Wyoming in a rotten performance of historical proportions.
Considering the caliber of competition — a Mountain West Conference team that lost five straight games by a combined 177 points earlier in the season — this ranked as one of the worst performances by the Vols at Neyland Stadium in decades.
The others that immediately come to mind are a 21-14 loss to North Texas State in 1975 (Bill Battle’s next-to-last year) and a 13-7 defeat on homecoming by Rutgers in 1979 (John Majors’ third season).
