On Election Day, we often reflect back over the last four years to take stock of what was then and what is now. Are we better off today than we were four years ago?
Football fans do the same thing.
On this date in 2004, Alabama was unranked and heading toward its second straight non-winning season under the clueless Mike Shula. Auburn was undefeated, ranked No. 3 and Tommy Tuberville was the Master of the Universe.
Today, Alabama is No. 1 in the land. Meanwhile, Tuberville’s stock has crashed, his football team has imploded and his future is in the balance.
But if you listen to Tuberville, this is just an aberration, a bad year, a hiccup.
“You have good years and you have one bad year,” Tuberville said recently.
