Malfunctioning voting machines, illegal voter assistance, voter intimidation and poll workers incorrectly asking voters for identification are some of the problems facing Mississippians on election day.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said the incidents are not widespread, though, and the voting process has been mostly smooth across the state.
Hosemann, a Republican serving his first term, said his office has fielded 28 calls from election officials reporting machine malfunctions. Most have been resolved, he said.
He also said his office is monitoring a precinct in Greenwood after “repeated instances of voter assistance where people are bringing people in, they’re asking for assistance even though they’re clearly not (eligible.)”
