A month into the college football season, some things are apparent

We’re a month into the season, which means most teams are now one-third or one-fourth through their schedule, and some things have been clearly established going into the meat of conference play.
We can start to categorize some teams. Some have fulfilled expectations. Some are major disappointments. And some are just great stories — who’d have ever thought we could look at conference standings on Sept. 22 and see Vanderbilt (4-0) leading the SEC or Minnesota (4-0) and Northwestern (4-0) with the best records in the Big Ten?
