Former Madison Central High Quarterback Pleads Guilty to Distributing Steroids
Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest said Foster distributed the steroids to a confidential police informant in October of 2007 at an Exxon station on Highway 463 in Madison.
“What the sheriff and I hope this sends is we’re going to treat everybody equally, whether you’re a star athlete or a regular old kid on the street,” said Guest.
Foster is sentenced to 5 years in the state penitentiary and a $5,000 fine. The prison sentence will be suspended upon completion of the Regimented Inmate Discipline Program, or RID. Officials say its similar to boot camp and lasts 6 to 8 months. He’ll also serve 5 years supervised probation.
“It’s a shame a person has to do something like this to go on with their lives,” said Foster’s father, Lance.
“I’m pleased with the way it went. It’s up to Mr. Foster now, where he takes his life.” said Madison County Sheriff Toby Trowbridge, Jr.
Officials say Foster will be admitted to RID as soon as there’s space available.
This isn’t Foster’s first run-in with the law. He was arrested in November of 2006 on more than a dozen alcohol-related charges after a party at his home. The arrest sparked an investigation because authorities found pills in Foster’s home.
