Letter to MS RNC Delegates from Stacey Pickering

Mississippi Delegates
Republican National Convention

Dear Fellow Republicans,

It has been my privilege to serve as the 41st State Auditor, and it continues to be a tremendous honor working with the staff in this agency to protect your assets and integrity. As Hurricane Gustav makes its way toward the Gulf Coast, we have already been in contact with all local governments in South Mississippi, preparing for possible emergency financial management procedures. In addition, my technical assistance team will be available to assist local governments as we work our way through the aftermath of Gustav.

Whitney and I will not be attending the Republican Convention due to the threat the Hurricane poses. At a time like this, my responsibilities to my family, neighbors and those most affected by Gustav outweigh my participation in the Convention. I know that your thoughts and prayers are with our neighbors on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas during this time.

I hope you will join Whitney and me in providing Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin the greatest possible margin of victory in November. I am extremely proud to support these two great public servants as this campaign will be a contrast of ideas and values. As Mississippians and Americans, we are very fortunate to have such great leadership in the Republican Party, Whitney and I proudly support Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin and wish them all the best at this year’s Convention.

Serving Mississippi Together,
Stacey E. Pickering
Mississippi’s State Auditor
