Jackson Mayor Frank Melton paid the overdue property taxes on his home Monday, avoiding the auction block at the last minute.
Melton paid his 2007 taxes Monday morning, months after he first told The Clarion-Ledger he would.
“I’m not going to answer any more questions about me personally because it’s too out of line,” Melton said.
Meanwhile Monday, about a hundred bidders sought to buy property listed on a Hinds County’s tax roll by paying the overdue taxes.
