Entering the final year of his first term, Jackson Mayor Frank Melton is reflective about the experience.
A vast coalition of supporters that would be the envy of any politician swept him into office three years ago with a mandate to clean up Jackson, save its children and restart its economy. While he said he can look up and down the city and see growth and development spreading in almost all quarters, he also is awaiting his third criminal trial in as many years.
“I’m glad I ran. I have learned a lot as a human being. I’ve had great growth as a person,” he said.
At the same time, he admitted, “Mistakes were made.”
