With his political career and freedom at risk, Jackson Mayor Frank Melton said Tuesday he had to go shopping for a deal on a good lawyer.
“I’ve got my life on the line here, and I have to get the best people I can find at a reasonable price,” he said. “It’s really been a nightmare.”
Buddy Coxwell of Jackson withdrew this week as Melton’s attorney. Melton said he has settled on another local lawyer but would not release that attorney’s name.
“You’ll be able to find out who it is when that person files the appropriate documents,” he said.
