Free Dickie

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 25, 2008

One subject that’s making the rounds on the cabin porches is the downfall of Oxford super lawyer Richard “Dickie” Scruggs — who is headed for a federal prison cell in Kentucky.
Neshoba County Fair male fashion rarely rises above the level of either boots-and-jeans or T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops. But the T-shirts are normally interesting.

I saved two this year for fair wear — one from a Fort Worth Stockyards saloon I stopped by with my stepson called “Booger Red’s” and another from a recent visit to the infamous Flora-Bama establishment on the Florida-Alabama state line that reads: “Your Mom Was Here.”

But so far, the best T-shirt of the 2008 Neshoba County Fair was the creation of Y’all Politics Web site entrepreneur Alan Lange.

It reads: “Free Dickie” and carries a Wall Street Journal-style image of Scruggs. On the back is a snarky list of reasons Lange penned that Scruggs should be set free.
