Bittle holds key to Ole Miss’ hopes

Southern Miss will be playing its NCAA regional tournament in SEC country for the fifth consecutive season.
Ole Miss will be going on the road for regional play for the first time since 2003.
And LSU has re-emerged as a college baseball power, just in time for the Golden Eagles’ short trip to Baton Rouge later this week.

Southern Miss traveled to Ole Miss last year as the No. 2 seed in the Oxford Regional. The Golden Eagles earned the same distinction for this year’s journey to LSU’s Alex Box Stadium, which will be torn down after the season and replaced by a new-and-improved model for 2009.
LSU, however, has more than sentiment on its side.
