Complete list: Who’s in, who’s out of 2008 draft? – Jamont Gordon
On Thursday the NBA released the official early-entry candidate list. A whopping 90 underclassmen have declared for the draft — 69 from U.S. colleges and 22 international early-entry candidates.
That’s going to make for an incredibly tight draft. Of the 90 early-entry candidates, only 42 are in Insider’s Top 60. While that’s bad news for early- entry candidates, it’s even worse news for college seniors.
Currently only two seniors, Roy Hibbert and D.J. White, are projected as first-round picks and only six seniors are projected in the second round. Those are historic lows.
When you factor in that 22 top seniors skipped the Portsmouth Invitational draft camp … someone isn’t doing the math.
Of course, many of the players who have declared can withdraw their names if they don’t like where they are projected to go. Players have until Monday, June 16 at 5 p.m. ET to officially withdraw. Of the 69 college underclassmen who have declared only 17 have hired agents, ending their college eligibility.
After speaking with a number of NBA scouts and GMs, here’s our best take on where each underclassmen is projected to go in the draft.
