Dozens of cases on DeLaughter’s docket on hold

Hinds County will have to reassign dozens of cases on Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter’s docket with the state Supreme Court’s decision Friday to temporarily suspend him pending a review of allegations he was corruptly influenced.

“No inference of any final determination of judicial misconduct should be drawn from the temporary suspension ordered herein,” wrote Chief Justice Jim Smith. “Judge DeLaughter is suspended pending resolutions of the formal complaints filed by the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance.”

DeLaughter, who has maintained his innocence, has said he wouldn’t fight the request by the commission to temporarily suspend him. He will be paid his annual salary of $104,000.
