Ratepayers would be better off to pay now

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 3, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 3/2/8

When the state’s electric ratepayers, the Legislature and state’s regulated public utilities are facing one of the most important decisions in the last half-century, we do so with one of the most inexperienced Public Service Commissions in history.

That’s no slam on the PSC as individuals or as a group – talented, intelligent men with a good background in state and local government all. But in terms of the intricacies of the PSC, they are a little green.

Why does that matter? Because Mississippi is facing an important choice about the future of energy production in this state and the linchpin in this decision is the strength and expertise of these three elected commissioners.
