Governor Haley Barbour has officially set a special election for Mississippi’s First Congressional Seat, the position formerly held by U.S. Senator Roger Wicker.
Wicker was appointed to fill the unexpired term of U.S. Senator Trent Lott, who retired at the end of 2007.
The election will be held April 22, 2008. The qualifying deadline is Friday, March 7, 2008, no later than 5:00 p.m.
