Haley Barbour brought hard-ball partisan politics to the Mississippi Legislature and quickly taught his fellow GOPers how to play it. Democrats were outmaneuvered until they caught on to what was happening.
But once they did, Dems showed they could play tough, at least on one side of the Legislature.
In the Senate, even with a four-vote majority, Democrats knuckled under to Republican Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant.
