With the end of former Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck’s eight-year run as lieutenant governor and the dawn of new Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant’s regime comes a season of change and transition in the Mississippi State Senate.
Gone, too, is longtime Senate President Pro Tempore Travis Little, the Corinth Republican who retired from the Legislature in 2007 to be replaced by state Sen. Billy Hewes of Gulfport.
With the transition of leadership in the Senate comes a new group of Senate committee chairpersons, vice chairpersons and subcommittee chairpersons.
Bryant’s selection of new committee leaders will not only change the fortunes of legislation in the Senate, but likely through the entire legislative process.
