Mayor: Lawn workers going back in business

By: Magnolia Tribune - December 18, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 12/18/7

Jackson Mayor Frank Melton said he plans to put the Wood Street Lawn Service back to work after abandoning the company following the state auditor’s probe into its use.

“I made a mistake in judgment. When this came up I pulled away from them. … I pulled back when this started and that was wrong. I never should have done that,” Melton said. “These kids deserve to have the same breaks as the people who are building the King Edward.

“I saw these kids when they came to my office on a Friday to get their paychecks. They had sweat popping off of them. I am getting ready to put them back to work and the city is going to pay for it like they did all the other contractors.”
