Barbour campaign asks TV stations to pull Eaves ad

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 28, 2007

The Sun Herald, 9/27/7

Republican Gov. Haley Barbour’s campaign is asking Mississippi TV stations to stop airing an advertisement by his Democratic challenger, John Arthur Eaves Jr., because Barbour’s side says the 30-second spot is untrue.

The Eaves campaign says it stands by the ad, which asserts the governor has financial connections to his former Washington lobbying firm, Barbour Griffith and Rogers. The ad started airing this week and was scheduled to be broadcast for several more days.

Barbour campaign manager Joe Nosef said he faxed a letter to TV stations late Wednesday afternoon asking them to pull the spot off the air. Nosef said he had not received a definite answer back from any station by Thursday.
